Brief overview of NITTO adhesive tapes
We would be happy to supply other NITTO products in addition to the electrical tapes presented here.
NITTO no. 228 PVC insulating tape
Nitto no. 228 is an incredibly soft tape. This PVC tape has excellent stretching properties because bulking agents are not used in the production process. A good balance between adhesive strength, stripping force and film flexibility produces a perfect seal and allows for easy handling while preventing the penetration of water, increasing chemical and electrical resistivity and improving the fit of the tape around the relevant components. The tape is suitable for electrical insulation and high-voltage applications. Nitto no. 228 has excellent flame retardant properties and is resistant to oil, acid and bases.
- -10°C to +105°C
- Pure flame retardant PVC, no bulking agents
- Rubber-based, pressure-sensitive adhesive lining
- Excellent stretching properties
- Excellent relaxation properties
- No fatigue
- No lead content
- Certified in accordance with EN 60454 (VDE) for electrical insulation applications, classification: IEC 60454-3-1-10/F-PVC/105
NITTO no. 21 PVC insulating tape
Nitto no. 21 is a very soft tape. Nitto no. 21 has a thick backing material (total tape thickness is 190µm). The tape is ideal for a varied range of applications and perfect for outdoor use due to superior weatherability and resistance to ageing. The tape is also resistant to oil, acid and bases.
- -18°C to +90°C
- Pure PVC, no bulking agents
- Good adhesive properties
- Superior weatherability
- Rubber-based, pressure-sensitive adhesive lining
- Excellent stretching properties
- Excellent relaxation properties
- No fatigue
- No lead content
NITTO no. 15 self-fusing butyl tape
Nitto no. 15 is a self-fusing butyl-based tape that does not require a liner, thereby reducing the time required to apply the tape during assembly. The tape has extremely good electrical properties, superior weatherability and resistance to water. Established areas of application include: corrosion protection of wires and cables on through connections and branch couplings, insulation of high-voltage cables, sealing cable heads, repairing cable sheaths, corrosion protection of pipes, pipe connections and installations, as filler material to compensate for unevenness.
- -55°C to +105°C
- Excellent workability due to linerless system
- Exceptional electrical properties
- Extremely resistant to moisture, water and chemicals
- Superior weatherability and ozone resistance
- Self-amalgamates within 12 hours when stretched at 100 - 150%
NITTO no. 51 / 51B PVC corrosion protection tape
Nitto no. 51 is manufactured from special, durable PVC backing material and covered in a self-adhesive butyl-rubber based layer. These products can be applied mechanically (type 51B) for all-round pipe protection or manually (type 51) over welded pipe couplings or connections. The self-adhesive butyl-rubber based layer works effectively together with NITOPRIMER, which is applied to the relevant parts beforehand so that the tape adheres securely to the pipe and achieves a perfect seal. The tape achieves MAXIMUM corrosion protection when used in combination with NITOPIMER and OUTERWRAP tape, depending on the environmental conditions.
- -45°C to +70°C
- Special, durable PVC
- High adhesive strength
- Suitable for applications involving high temperatures
- Provides perfect corrosion protection for pipelines, power and communication cables, pipes in critical environmental conditions such as mines, chemical plants, etc.
NITTO no. 509A double-coated adhesive tape
Nitto no. 509A tape has an extremely high tack resulting in excellent splicing properties, even at low temperatures. The high degree of heat resistance keeps the splice intact during drying processes. The tape resists humidity for a limited period of time, despite its repulpable characteristics. The rigid siliconised liner allows easy tearing of the excess paper in the splice area. For storage, the tape is hermetically sealed in plastic bags, to maintain constant moisture content. Nitto 509A passes repulpability test by TAPPI Method UM213. Nitto 509A is suitable for splicing operations at high speed with automatic reel changing in paper and printing industries. The product can be used on off-coaters, sheeters, flying pasters and zero-speed splicers.
